About

Becky Herbert was born and raised in Hollister, California, and is the fifth generation in her family to devote her work to the food and agriculture industry. Deeply rooted in San Benito County’s farming community, Becky’s lifelong connection to local growers and seasonal ingredients has shaped her approach to food, nourishment, and hospitality.

Early in her career, Becky founded Eating with the Seasons, a long-running community-supported agriculture (CSA) program that served Bay Area households for more than 20 years. Through this work, she collaborated closely with regional farmers and producers, gaining deep hands-on experience in seasonal sourcing, menu planning, logistics, and community food systems. This chapter of her career laid the foundation for her commitment to clean ingredients, local agriculture, and accessible, nourishing food.

Working daily with peak-season produce naturally led Becky into the kitchen, where she began developing prepared foods for clients who wanted to eat well but lacked the time to cook. Her culinary style is inspired by the meals her mother prepared in their farmhouse kitchen—food defined by comfort, flavor, and freshness—values that continue to guide her cooking today.

After several years producing food from a rented commercial kitchen, Becky opened Farmhouse Café in Hollister, creating a space to share seasonally driven, farm-forward cuisine with the local community. She was honored with the Best Chef Award in the Best of San Benito County voter’s poll in 2021 and again in 2025, affirming her reputation as a respected chef, restaurateur, and caterer.

Becky has completed a Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate through the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies in partnership with eCornell and is a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. These credentials inform her nutrition-conscious, whole-food approach to menu design and personalized chef services.

Today, through Farmhouse Culinary, Becky offers customized personal chef services, prepared foods, and local catering—bringing elevated comfort food, clean ingredients, and a deep respect for seasonal agriculture to every table she serves.
